And the American Idol 2008 is…
…DAVID!!!

I was in extreme ecstacy when I watched American Idol Season Finale’s live telecast this morning (Pinas time: 8:00-10:00). I was able to see some bits and pieces only though as it’s work day for me. When I left for work, the Top 6 ladies were performing with Donna Summer. And as soon as I get to work (office), I didn’t take much time in my work area and headed to our Treasury Department. Thanks to a very nice co-Cook fanatic for inviting me over to watch the remaining portions of the show.
It seemed that I and all our traders were trasported from the bank’s trading room to the Nokia Theatre in LA. Each one of us was quietly glued to the boob tube when Ryan Seacrest started to announce this year’s AI winner. And when he uttered the words,
“Ladies and gentlemen. David and David.
The winner by 12 million votes of
American Idol is… David… COOK!”,
we all jumped for joy! Everyone in that room was hoping for DC to win the title. Oh well, we were all in snyc in thinking that it’s a well-deserved recognition. It may sound like a cliche but DC is indeed the most talented, creative, original and bold (not to mention, deliciously sexy!!!) contender in this year’s AI. And for the record, it’s the first time for a rocker to bag the AI title. Chris Daughtry and Bo Bice were equally good and talented but, too bad, they did win the viewers votes.
Going back to the finale’s performance night, I was extremely mad at Simon Cowell with overly good feedbacks he threw at little Archie and announcing that it was a TKO. It’s as if he’s announcing AI’s final winner. Oh well, America did prove him wrong. I think one of the forum commenters in AI.com got it right as he assumed that the incident will definitely push all DC fans to cast their votes to ensure DC of the title. Such a well thought analysis! Well, Simon did apologize to David during the awards night. It was a very nice gesture though.

To be honest, I think both the Davids deserve the title (try ko lang without so much echos ah! Hehehe!). Little Archie has great vocals and is way too lucky to have started a promising career at such a young age.
So, to Little Archie, best wishes to you as well. All the luck in your career.
And to hotta-hotta DC, congratulations to you, dearie! You are indeed the true AI!
